NURS 550 - Healthcare System Nurse Educator Role

2.00 credit hours
This course prepares the nurse educator to design evidence-based teaching strategies and facilitate active learning experiences using adult learning theories to promote evidence-based practice in the clinical setting. There is an emphasis on adequately preparing healthcare providers to recognize the complexities of the healthcare environment, to respond in an appropriate and timely manner to the needs and challenges of the system and to provide the safest, quality of care to diverse populations. This course prepares nurse educators with the knowledge to understand the challenges of academic-clinical partnerships, the skills to educate interdisciplinary healthcare providers, students, and staff; and to provide diverse learning experiences, with effective assessment and evaluation of learning outcomes in the clinical setting. Learning experiences may include clinical experiences, simulation: high-fidelity, computer-based and virtual reality to achieve course learning outcomes and meet the program practice hour requirements to support accreditation.
