NURS 529 - Advanced Practice Nursing: Perinatal and Pediatric Primary Care - Clinical

3.00 credit hours
This clinical practicum course is a continuation of NURS 528  which prepares advanced nurse practitioners to deliver health care for child-bearing and pediatric patient populations in the primary care and specialized settings. Continues to focus on a holistic approach to health care, incorporating principles of perinatal and pediatric care, health promotion and disease prevention, including concepts of growth and development, screening procedures and laboratory testing. Emphasizes advanced pathophysiology, assessment and diagnostic strategies specific to acute and chronic health problems in child-bearing and pediatric patients. Stresses clinical interventions to enhance, maintain and restore health in context of family and community environments. Develops skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and effective utilization of community resources. This course requires 168 clock-hours of practicum providing primary care for the child-bearing and pediatric patient.
