SGBN 242 - History: Space Program in Film Video4.00 credit hours At the opening of the tumultuous 1960s, John F. Kennedy announced that “I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to Earth.” Students examine news videos and documentary and feature films that portray the era reliably. Beyond looking into the historical record, students gather what they can of the feeling of the time, especially the optimism and “can-do” spirit of those who devoted themselves to what they saw as a grand mission.
