Mission Statement
The Gender and Women’s Studies program is an interdisciplinary minor that prepares students to think critically about the categories of sex, sexuality and gender. We facilitate processes through which students integrate analysis of these categories into their experiences as leaders and global citizens who value lifelong learning and social justice.
The program equips students to analyze power, inequality, identity and privilege from local, transnational and historical perspectives. We aim to educate students about the process and politics of being an ally to oppressed populations. We provide opportunities to engage in activism, service-learning, feminist inquiry and the study of diverse sexualities.
