Middle Eastern and North African Studies

Program Coordinator: Dr. Esra Tasdelen

Mission Statement

The Middle East and North African Studies program is an interdisciplinary minor that prepares students to engage critically and effectively with the wide range of cultures and sociopolitical systems that exist in this critical region of the world.

The Middle East and North African Studies program offers a course of study that applies the disciplines of history, literature, the arts, the social sciences, religion, language and cultural studies to the development of knowledge and skills needed to equip our students to be effective citizens and agents, locally and worldwide. The minor also provides an academic foundation for students wishing to pursue further study and professional opportunities that depend upon an advanced understanding of the Middle East and North Africa.
