MUS 182 - Jazz Improvisation II3.00 credit hours Principles of jazz harmony, rhythmic style and melodic development utilized in jazz improvisation. Technical, ear training and improvisation exercises and jazz repertoire utilizing the ii-V-I harmonic progression, the blues scale and form, the aeolian and locrian modes and the minor ii-IV-I harmonic progression. Analysis, transcription and performance of recorded jazz solos illustrating these principles.
Prerequisite(s): MUS 181 .
