HIST 345 - History of the Book 1450-1750

4.00 credit hours
An examination of the histories of reading and the book, emphasizing the early modern period (ca. 1450-1750), when the effects of the invention of printing and increased literacy transformed the West permanently. Students examine and address the political, social and cultural stakes, risks and responsibilities inherent in the transmission and dissemination of knowledge.

Prerequisite(s): Junior standing or HIST 200 .
