SHMR 216 - What is Light?4.00 credit hours The history of the modern study of motion (or mechanics) begins with Galileo, followed by Descartes and, above all, Newton. Through primary texts and reflections on the social and cultural contexts in which these strands of modern science develop, students examine the very foundations of modern physics. They also undertake a semester-long experimental investigation into the nature of light.
