EDUC 324 - Elem/MS Math Methods and Assessment4.00 credit hours A foundational course on the guiding principles and learning theories of teaching mathematics at the elementary and middle school levels. Emphasis is on the application of research-based instructional strategies that facilitate students’ conceptual understanding, procedural fluency and mathematical reasoning skills in the mathematics classroom. Includes principles, methods and techniques of assessing student learning to inform teacher decision-making, foster student goal-setting and communicate progress to family stakeholders.
Prerequisite(s): MATH 108 . Concurrent enrollment in EDUC 326 and EDUC 391 . Concurrent enrollment in EDUC 320 recommended.
