MTCH 530 - Teaching Students With Disabilities

4.00 credit hours
This course provides an introduction to and overview of the field of special education including: historical developments; etiology, characteristics, prevalence and needs of diverse exceptional learners served under IDEA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; compliance with state and federal regulations related to Special Education, the importance of culturally responsive collaboration with families, paraprofessionals and related service professionals; as well as an introduction to able-ism and discrimination, including its effects on students with disabilities in schools and society.
