NURS 539 - Psychiatric Mental Health NP: Theory and Clinical Management II 7.00 credit hours This course concentrates on the psycho-therapeutic management of psychiatric disorders and behavioral/mental health issues, emphasizing early detection and suitable treatment methods across the lifespan. It particularly focuses on high-risk populations and the use of psycho-pharmacological treatments throughout an individual’s lifespan. The course incorporates current research and epidemiological trends in psychiatric care to select relevant concepts to address and explore various therapeutic approaches. Students will have opportunities to explore and apply individual, group and marital/couples’ therapies across different clinical settings throughout the lifespan. As part of the course requirements, students will engage in 175 clock hours of clinical practice, with 100 hours specifically dedicated to therapeutic modalities. This practical experience will enable students to implement assessment and intervention techniques aimed at supporting patients in achieving and sustaining their optimal mental health. Students must meet with their clinical faculty before the start of this course.
