NEUR 200 - Behavioral Neuroscience

4.00 credit hours
An examination of the manner in which genetic, environmental, biochemical and physiological factors contribute to the neurological basis of behavior. Special attention is given to neural contributions to reproduction, psychopharmacology, fear, learning, stress, ingestion, communication, memory and psychiatric disorders. Critical analysis of the empirical, peer reviewed literature is a significant focus of the course. Weekly journal article readings, in-depth class discussions and written assignments that center around the articles develop students’ ability to effectively read,comprehend and analyze empirical neuroscience research, as well as to contextualize the findings within the course content and the broader world.
