ENVI 240 - Introduction to Environmental Economics4.00 credit hours (Same as: ECON 240 .) Examines impact of economic activity on the environment and shortcomings of the market system in valuing environmental costs and benefits. Traditional regulation of the U.S. economy, including command and control policies are briefly discussed. Recent development and application of new and potential economic instruments to improve environmental quality are the focus; other topics include the valuation of environmental resources and prospects for sustainable development.
