Financial Assistance Programs
The Office of Financial Aid administers federal, state and institutional programs. Each program carries specific eligibility requirements or regulations that ensure the assistance is benefiting a maximum number of students. Due to the different criteria and requirements of each program administered, detailed descriptions of the aid programs available and the rights and responsibilities a student assumes when accepting financial assistance are provided in the Financial Aid Handbook, located at https://www.northcentralcollege.edu/aid-costs/financial-aid-policies.
Eligibility for Aid
In order to receive full consideration for any need-based financial aid or federal direct loans, a student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov. Merit scholarships are awarded at the time of admission and renewable based on the criteria of the specific scholarship earned. All other assistance is only available after completing the FAFSA and providing any additional documentation requested. To qualify for any North Central specific assistance, students must be accepted into the College. Continuing students must also meet satisfactory academic progress under the guidelines provided at https://www.northcentralcollege.edu/aid-costs/financial-aid-policies.
Loan Requirements
In order for a student to receive a Direct Student Loan, Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note must be completed. The entrance counseling is designed to provide the student with information about the loan program and his/her rights and responsibilities as a borrower. The College utilizes an electronic funds transfer process to credit student loans to the North Central billing account. Students are also required to complete Exit Counseling upon graduating, enrolling below half-time, or ceasing enrollment. All requirements can be completed at https://studentaid.gov.
Veteran Benefits
Veterans and their dependents are entitled to use their chapter benefits in accordance with the rules of the Veterans Administration while attending North Central College. Applicants are required to complete and submit appropriate documents in order to establish their eligibility. For further information, contact the Office of the Registrar at (630) 637-5252.
Payment of Tuition and Fees
All tuition and fees are due in full on or before the beginning of each semester. Exceptions must be approved by the Business Office Student Accounts. Billing statements are available several weeks in advance of the due date. A late payment fee will be charged for any unpaid balances. The College reserves the right to withhold a student’s diploma, the degree, and a transcript of credits or course grades, as long as any bills owed the College remain unpaid. The College reserves the right to deny registration to any student with unpaid bills from a previous semester. For questions about Student Accounts, call (630) 637-5689. Both student account billing and financial aid can be viewed online through Merlin at http://merlin.noctrl.edu.
