Financial Aid

Office of Financial Aid

A degree from North Central College is an investment with lifelong returns. North Central partners with you and your family to maximize affordability through a number of financial assistance options. Our financial aid team will work with you to customize an aid package central to your needs. We are dedicated to making sure cost is not a barrier to a comprehensive liberal arts education. For questions about your financial aid, call or write: (630) 637-5600 or finaid@noctrl.edu.

Financial Assistance Programs

The Office of Financial Aid administers federal and institutional programs. The assistance includes Federal Direct Loans and several institutional programs. Each of these programs carries specific eligibility requirements or regulations that ensure the assistance is benefiting a maximum number of students. Due to the different criteria and requirements of each program administered, detailed descriptions of the aid programs available and the rights and responsibilities a student assumes when accepting financial assistance are provided in the Financial Aid Handbook, located at https://www.northcentralcollege.edu/aid-costs/financial-aid-policies.

Eligibility for Aid

In order to receive full consideration for any need-based financial aid or federal direct loans, a student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://fafsa.ed.gov. To be eligible for any loans and other aid assistance from North Central, a student must have applied for admission and been accepted to the College. Continuing students must make satisfactory academic progress under the guidelines provided at https://www.northcentralcollege.edu/aid-costs/financial-aid-policies.

Loan Counseling

All schools are required by federal regulations to provide entrance counseling to first-time Federal Direct Loan borrowers. A student will also complete a Master Promissory Note to borrow a loan.  The entrance counseling is designed to provide the student with information about the loan program and his/her rights and responsibilities as a borrower. This entrance counseling must be completed prior to the disbursement of any loan funds. If you borrow a loan, the College will use electronic funds transfer to credit your student loan proceeds directly to your North Central account. Students who receive Federal Direct Loan are also required to complete an exit counseling session to prepare and inform you about the repayment process. Loan counseling information is found at https://studentloans.gov.

Veteran Benefits

Veterans and their dependents are entitled to use their chapter benefits in accordance with the rules of the Veterans Administration while attending North Central College. Applicants are required to complete and submit appropriate documents in order to establish their eligibility. For further information, contact the Office of the Registrar at (630) 637-5252.

Payment of Tuition and Fees

All tuition and fees are due in full on or before the beginning of each term. Exceptions must be cleared through the Business Office Student Accounts. Billing statements are available several weeks in advance of the due date. A late payment fee will be charged for any unpaid balances. The College reserves the right to withhold a student’s diploma, the degree, and a transcript of credits or course grades, as long as any bills owed the College remain unpaid. The College reserves the right to deny registration to any student with unpaid bills from a previous term. For questions about Student Accounts, call (630) 637-5689. Student account charges and financial aid can be viewed on Merlin at https://merlin.noctrl.edu.
