ART 368 - History of Design 3.00 credit hours
This course provides a thematic and chronological introduction to the history of design from 1700 to the present. It will consider the cultural role of design in finding creative solutions to basic human needs, such as shelter, clothing, useful objects, visual communications, transportation and built environments in a variety of social contexts. Works by major designers will be studied within their historical and cultural context.
Prerequisite(s): ART 100 or ART 276 .

Biology Nonmajors and students with minimal science backgrounds should take BIO 100 , BIO 104 , BIO 106 , BIO 108 , BIO 109 or a BIO 120 topics course. Students anticipating a major or minor in biology should start in BIO 151 .
